Art 27 vzw
Type:
Art 27 vzw is inspired by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The 27th article tells us that: “Everyone has the right to participate freely in the cultural life of a community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.”
Art 27 vzw is specialised in “edutainment” as a method to learn for life. We create an atmosphere with a kind of ‘soul’, where everybody (different social groups) can feel at home at the same time. The most important activity of Art 27 vzw, is to set up “Work in progress exhibitions” in different places, in co-operation with different partners. The exhibition is a kind of an alibi to attract people. Therefore, it is important that we make a “good location-choice”; that’s the most important instrument in our edutainment-approach. Art 27 vzw works with the people in their own (or chosen) environment. It doesn’t matter what the exact content is (solidarity, community life, integration, democracy, politics, welfare, peace). We have a variability of methods to catch the attention of people, to make them curious and to get them ready for more. But that is an active step they have to take, if they are really interested. Then we set up a longer-term project with the people.
Art 27 vzw uses cultural work and art as an eye opener on the global world.
Art 27 vzw works with people in their own social environment with an individual approach on the route to a responsible attitude of the individual.
Size:
Art 27 engages educational workers and a pool of three specialists on edutainment and informal learning.Art 27 is an association in full development: will continue to work with freelancers (the pool) for specialised tasks. On the edutainment-level, Art 27 reaches approximately 500 interested people / year.On the informal education –level, Art 27 reaches 200 “learners” / year, also in ‘formal’ schools or institutions.
Expertise:
Art 27 is specialised in “edutainment” as a method to learn for life. We create an atmosphere with a kind of ‘soul’, where everybody (different social groups) can feel at home at the same time.Art 27 developed an expertise in: working with the third generation young Turkish (in a former coal mine area)as participating visitorsworking with the first generation Italian migrants (especially women) (in a former coal mine area) as participating visitorsworking with young artists, who need a second chance to show their potencyworking with (political, cultural, economical and war) refugees, especially artists, to give them a chance to participate in the society and rebuilt their self-reliance with their own skills and talentsArt 27 started as a local initiative in 2001. In the meantime it became a regional attraction pole. There are plans to form a strong co-operation with some other associations, so Art 27 can grow horizontal and vertical at the same time.
Specific tasks:
Contribute to database of best practice, support organising a transnational meeting.
Personnel:
There will be one educational worker involved directly: participating in the project. He will inform the others and discuss the issues of the project. Indirectly, there will be three persons involved. In the later state, we hope to use the insights of the project, so our “clients” will also benefit the outcomes of the greater project. – 1,5 fte
