During the SOCCER-project the partners tried out a range of good practices. We worked with them, changed them, tried them out again, … We all gave our opinion.

CESO – Centrum voor Europese Studies en Opleidingen

 - Consultancy European programmes (until 2002 external expert of two big Regional Training Centres in Maastricht and Heerlen). Main areas: education, training, schooling, ICT in education and SMEs, information society, European citizenship, gender mainstreaming.
– Development of projects; role as promoter/ co-ordinator or as a partner in Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates-Grundtvig, Social Exclusion, Connect, Prince, etc.
 

Expertise:

CESO participated in three projects on Social Exclusion; three projects of the Italian organisation Cittadinanzattiva.

CESO worked in the role of consultant for setting up a Second Chance School in Heerlen, NL,(contract European Commission)

Executed the evaluation of the pilot-project Second Chance Schools (1995-2000) for the European Commission.

Partner in two relevant Leonardo da Vinci projects (EDYCATE: entrepreneurship, youngsters at risk; PACE: development of partial qualifications)

Partner in the Grundtvig-4 Network OASIS: gender mainstreaming and adult education.

Expertise in project organisation: 1991-1995 national coordinator in the NL of the Community Initiative EUROFORM.

1970-1991: course leader and director of the folkhighschool and Europehouse (Valkenburg, near Maastricht): European democratic education/adult education courses.

Specific tasks in Soccer:
Management of the project, co-ordinating role of the partnership, responsibility for the two researchers and for monitoring + evaluation. Organising of transnational meetings in Maastricht and Brussels.

Size:
since 2003: 1 person, no learners (before 2003: 1,5 + free-lance collaborators 4 – 7 people)

Specific tasks:
Management of the project, co-ordinating role of the partnership, responsibility for the two researchers and for monitoring + evaluation. Organising of transnational meetings in Maastricht and Alden Biesen.

SCOP

Confederation Générale des SCOP (Paris, France) 

Type: Co-operative (profit organisation). Support to all the members (co-operatives) of the Confederation (about 1500 members) 

Size:
117 staff (28 on the National level, and 47 in the regional federations, 15 in the professional branches
 

Expertise:
Within some SCOP-members in

France a pilot project is running that could be seen as a preparation of a deeper action on citizenship learning in enterprises:
* How do enterprises, how does my enterprise function?
* I am not alone in the enterprise: who are the others? Which roles?
* In how far do I need to take into account the others in my work environment?
 

Specific tasks: Contribute to database of best practice models.Development of ideas for follow-up in enterprises. Primordial question which is extremely important for this project: What are the requests of the enterprises? And: what is the real interest of “good” citizenship attitudes in an enterprise?

2nd Chance School Marseille

Association de Gestion de l’Ecole de la Deuxième Chance, Marseille  (Second Chance School, Marseilles) 

Type:Association. The first institution in its kind in Europe; welcomes youngsters at risk who have an incomplete scholarship

60 members in staff, 55 fte, 40 in pedagogical staff; 200 students  Expertise: Have a large experience with the target group; in the SCS: divers experiments with direct democracy: la vie collective; the pedagogical team has developed a range of tools and an own system of certificates.
